SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – A handful of OCCAC hoopers have been recognized for their superb performances on the hardwood last week (Jan. 28-Feb. 3), named the conference’s Players of the Week. Kierre James (Sinclair) and Clair Schmitmeyer (Edison State) split the D-II women’s votes to earn co-accolades while Owens’ Moreina Moore picked up the D-III honors. For the men, Sean McNeil of Sinclair and Lorain County’s Thomas Hronis brought home the D-II and D-III laurels, respectively.

Kierre James (5-02/SO – Lima Sr. H.S.) dropped in seven 3-pointers en route to 27 points in an 84-46 win over Bryant & Stratton (OH). She needed just 12 attempts to do so, shooting 58% from beyond the arc. James added a half dozen rebounds, four assists and a steal in 33 minutes played. This marks her second weekly OCCAC award of the season (Jan. 7).

Sinclair (15-3 overall / 5-1 OCCAC) remains tied for first in the conference with Owens and Lakeland.  Wednesday the Pride will host Owens in a first place battle then travel to Columbus State Thursday before finishing the week on Sunday with a home game against Lorain County.
