(20)Sinclair Women’s Basketball Jumps to #20 in the new Rankings

Dayton, Ohio-The Sinclair Women’s basketball team returned to the national rankings this week at #20 with a 9-1 start.  Under 2nd year Head Coach Victoria Jones and former UD standout, Coach Jones has quickly built a young team that has been blowing teams out.

The Top 20 ranking today marks the first time in over 8 years since the last appearances in the national polls.  February 27, 2008 was the last time the Pride received enough votes to qualify to be ranked 18th that week with a record of 21-3.  That would also be the year they went on to win the OCCAC championship.

This season, the Pride is off to a noticeable different start than teams in the past.  They are dominating teams both defensively and scoring with ease.  They have handled a number of challenging road games with only one blemish for the year.

Freshman Aaryn Evans (6-00/FR – Thurgood Marshall H.S.) has had a great start to her college career.  Already earning OCCAC Player of the Week honors, Aaryn is starting to put up big numbers.  It seems like there is not a rebound she can’t or will not get, making her high on most 4 year recruiting boards early on.

Heading into the holiday break, Sinclair will host three straight conference games starting with Lakeland this Saturday at 1pm.

All home games are played in Building 8 on the downtown Dayton campus.
