Tartans Win 64-60, Sweep the Season Series against UC-Clermont

Dayton, Ohio- Sinclair holds off UC-Clermont for the sweep as the Tartans win 64-60. Sinclair's offensive rebounds and O'Sha Owens (5'5" sophomore guard from Elida, Ohio) scoring led the way for Sinclair as they improve to 4-1 on the season.  

The game started with stubborn defense on both ends forcing both teams to shoot poorly and force turnovers. As the half winded down, hot hands started to emerge as scorers Tess Jenike for the Cougars and O'Sha Owens for the Tartans were able to put points on the board. Jenike had 12 points in the first half and Owens accounted for seven. Sinclair had the advantage on the boards outrebounding UC-Clermont 28-17. The Lady Tartans created extra possessions as they pulled down 13 offensive rebounds and converting them into 11 second chance points to the Cougars' one. UC-Clermont was able to get back into the game and take the lead at one point by converting their free-throws shooting 12 of 14 from the line. Sinclair went into the locker room with the 31-30 halftime lead. 

The Tartans came out of the locker room determined to get out to a lead. Sinclair went on an 8-2 run to take their largest lead of the game at seven. This lead was maintained until Tess Jenike got hot shooting. Towards the end of the game, she alone went and scored six straight points to tie the game at 58. O'Sha Owens responded with a five point run of her own. From this, Sinclair never looked back and was able to maintain the lead for the win at the end. O'Sha Owens led the Tartans in scoring with 16 total points. She also attributed four assists, three blocks, and three steals. Like the first half, Sinclair dominated the boards ending with a 57-38 advantage.

Notable performances included Breanna Ball (5'7" sophomore guard from Dayton, Ohio) who tacked on 12 points, and seven rebounds. Timberlynn Donaldson (5'10" freshman forward from Dayton, Ohio) dominated the paint with six points and 13 rebounds, nine of which came from the offensive end. For the Cougars, Tess Jenike led all scorers with 26 and Meggie Malone contributed 11.

Sinclair is back in action traveling to Cedarville University JV this Friday night on November 21st at 7pm.
