DAYTON, Ohio- Sinclair Community College women’s basketball team falls to Cincinnati State Technology and Community College 79-69. With the loss, Sinclair falls to 15-9 on the season and 5-4 in the OCCAC. Cincinnati State improves to 14-9 and 5-3 in the conference.
The Tartans had a tough half shooting from the floor as they were only converting 29 percent of their attempts and shot 1-10 from beyond the arc. Sinclair had trouble with Cincinnati State’s pressure as they turned the ball over 11 times in the first half. The Surge went on a couple runs in the first half to build their lead going into the locker room. They went on an 11-2 run mid-way through the half and then ended the half on an 8-2 run. At the intermission, Sinclair trailed Cincinnati State 42-25.
The second half saw the Tartans hot shooting. Sinclair shot 41.5 percent from the field and made 5 threes to cut the lead to seven with 2:48 remaining. Cincinnati responded with a quick 5-0 run the close the game and gives Sinclair only their fourth home loss of the season and ended the Tartans four game winning streak.
Notable performances included O’Sha Owens (5’5”/SO out of Elida, OH) who had a team high 26 points with six rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal. For the Surge, Jonessa Moore had a team high 26 points and a game high 12 rebounds.
Sinclair is back in action this Saturday Feb. 7th as they visit nationally ranked #2 Owens at 1pm.
