4 Sinclair softball players earn All-Conference Honors
Dayton, Ohio – The Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) announced that four Sinclair Softball players were named to the 2018 All-Conference Team.
Sinclair finished the regular season 25-11 overall and 9-3 in the conference for a 2nd place finish for the second straight season. The 9-3 OCCAC record qualified them as the #2 seed in this week's NJCAA Division II District tournament played in Lansing, MI.
Dominating the top of the awards for Sinclair, Alexis Strother (Freshman – Lebanon H.S.). In a rare combination, Alexis was voted both Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year.
At the plate she lead all Sinclair batters with a .485% batting average and 48 total hits. She was also the best with 6 home runs and an outstanding .727% Slugging %. On the mound she was equally as dominating with a 1.88 ERA on top of 14 wins on 10 complete game with 4 shut outs. She recorded 149 strike outs and managed to find time to even earn a save. Alexis was named OCCAC Pitcher of the Week 4 times during the season.
Cierra Chastain (Freshman – Beavercreek H.S.) also pulled double duties for the Pride as she picked up 9 wins on the mound and struck out 78. She was tops on the team with 14 doubles and 29 total runs scored.
Alexis Gordon (Freshman – Piqua H.S.) also earned OCCAC Player of the Week honors (April 30th). Alexis was the staple in the lineup for Coach Beachler as she had the most at bats for the team powered 37 hits.
Taylor White (Freshman – Centerville H.S.) rounded out the All-Conference selections for Sinclair with her team best 7 triples and 12 stolen bases. She was also tops with .473% batting average behind 43 total hits.
