Sinclair Basketball team Shares on Thanksgiving
November 22, 2018
Dayton, Ohio – An annual tradition, members of the Sinclair men’s basketball team stepped away from the hardwood to spent part of Thanksgiving Day volunteering at the Dayton Convention Center.
This annual event, the Feast of Giving is considered one of the largest Thanksgiving Day events in the nation and servers an estimated 6,000-8,000 people each year. It takes over 500 volunteers and countless organizations making donations of all kinds to keep this event completely free to the public. Spearheading this effort is Dr. Steve Levitt and Lori Parsons of Dermatologists of Southwest Ohio.
Even though the season is underway and Sinclair is just a few days away from playing this coming Wednesday against I-75 rival Edison State, they still took the time to give back as has been a staple of the Sinclair Athletics 3 C’s (Classroom, Community Service and Competition).
This was the 7th consecutive year for the Men’s Basketball team to spend the day at the Convention Center with the Feast of Giving. Under Coach Price, the Men’s team first volunteered at the Dayton Boys and Girls Club for over 6 years and now for the last 7 years at the Feast of Giving which has become an annual part of the Men’s Basketball tradition.
A long but rewarding day that starts at 10am and concludes around 2pm that includes four hours walking around the Convention Center on concrete serving the needs of the less fortunate. Sometimes even taking a few minutes to have a holiday conversation with someone eating all alone can make a difference. It’s a day of many experiences.
