LiDonta Hicks-Gentry earns 4th OCCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors this season

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The final regular season OCCAC Basketball Players of the Week honorees have been selected and three conference institutions are represented. Division II winners are Lakeland’s Armani Jackson and LiDonta Hicks-Gentry of Sinclair. Allyse Rutter and Mario Young both led Columbus State to postseason victories to earn the D-III accolades.
LiDonta Hicks-Gentry (6-7/SO – Snider HS, Fort Wayne, IN) lifted Sinclair to a road victory at Lakeland in the regular season finale to secure a #3 seed in the upcoming Region XII – District 11 Tournament. He posted 20 points and 14 rebounds to garner his fourth weekly recognition this season (fifth of his career). Hicks-Gentry converted on 8-of-16 field goal attempts and dished out five assists in the 90-75 victory.
Hicks-Gentry has now recorded 26 career double-doubles with a total of 18 this season while averaging a double-double this year, 16.9 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per contest. Rounding out an outstanding career, he was also named NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball National Player of the Week February 21st.
Sinclair enters post-season play this weekend as the #3 seed in the NJCAA Division II – District 11 men’s basketball tournament held at Ohio Christian University, Circleville (OH). Sinclair will take on #2 seed Owens at 8pm with the winner advancing to the District Championship game on Saturday at 3pm. The winner of the District 11 tournament will advance to the NJCAA Division II Sweet 16 held in Danville, IL.
