Freytag named Buckeye Charters Athlete of Distinction for February
Dayton, OH – The Athletic Department is pleased to announce that freshman Kyle Freytag (6-8/FR – Worthington Christian H.S.) has received the Buckeye Charters Student-Athlete of Distinction Award for the month of February.
Each month the Athletic Department in conjunction with Buckeye Charters, will select a Student-Athlete that has been a leader in all three categories; Community Service, Classroom and Competition – also known as the 3 C’s.
For the month of February, we would like to honor transfer freshman Kyle Freytag of the Men’s Basketball team. Freytag was active this fall in the community and continues to lead the way in the Classroom.
After transferring in from an NCAA Division II program where he was a red-shirt, he has stepped in and gave great support off the bench as he played behind NJCAA Division II 2nd Team All-American Akiean Frederick.
Kyle was that very physical presence around the basket that kept opponents honest with his strong rebounding and shot blocking ability as well as his ability to step away from the paint and knock down key jumpers.
He also acceded in the classroom as he earned Dean’s List honors and was named to the OCCAC All-Academic team for the fall.
Special thanks go out to Buckeye Charters for this award that honors those student-athletes that are great in the three C’s. Buckeye Charters have been providing quality and reliable transportation for student-athletes around the region as well as many other groups for over 22 years.
They have proven over the many years of partnership with the athletic department that they also value the commitment to high standards, and this is why we are pleased to name this monthly award: The Buckeye Charters Student-Athlete of Distinction
