Powell Named OCCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Dayton, Ohio – The (3)Sinclair Men’s basketball (25-2/11-1) Manny Powell (5-8/SO – Gahanna Lincoln H.S.) has been named the OCCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for February 8-14. 

Manny is the third different Sinclair player and the fifth time this season a Sinclair player has earned Player of the Week for the OCCAC.

Powell, a sophomore guard for Sinclair Community College, averaged 24 points, 2.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 0.5 steals over two games while shooting 17-for-30 from the field.

In an 87-55 win over Clark State Community College, Powell had 30 points, two rebounds and two assists. Then, in a 115-88 win over Lorain County Community College, he produced 18 points, three rebounds, seven assists and one steal.

Powell is averaging 14.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game this year overall for Sinclair (25-2, 11-1 OCCAC). In OCCAC play, he is third on the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game, while adding 2.6 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Through last week, he is 3rd all-time at Sinclair with 858 career points.

Powell has helped Sinclair to a school record 21-0 to start the season as well as a school record 21 straight wins.  The Pride has been ranked in the top 20 all year with several weeks as high as #2.

Sinclair will play at Cuyahoga this Saturday before returning home to host Edison State on Saturday the 27th at 3:00 for sophomore night before heading into tournament play.
