February 3, 2016
Dayton, Ohio – The Sinclair Men’s basketball (21-1 / 8-1 OCCAC) team dropped one spot this week in the latest NJCAA Division II Basketball Poll to #3.
Sinclair lost its first game of the season on Saturday as the Pride fell 79-73 at Lakeland, ending the best start in school history 21-0. The Pride finished the week 1-1 and improved its conference record to 8-1, still in first place.
Last week was one of those crazy college basketball weeks where three of the top five programs lost. #1 Lansing, #2 Sinclair and #4 Johnson County all lost allowing Triton and South Suburban to move up to the top two spots. Even though Sinclair lost on Saturday, the Pride only fell one spot to #3 and is still receiving 1st place votes.
Sinclair has been playing well all season and it seems like now every game the team or an individual is setting a new milestone.
Steven Perriere (6-7/SO – Paris, France) is now tied for 4th in school history 160 career offensive rebounds. Also moving up to #3 on the all-time Sinclair Assist leader board, Manny Powell (5-8/SO – Gahanna Lincoln H.S.) with 332 career assist. Marcellous Washington (6-1/SO – Lexington KY Bryan Station H.S.) stands alone in 6th with 126 career steals.
Tonight Sinclair will return host Cincinnati State at 7:30pm looking stay at the top of the OCCAC. Sinclair was able to knock off the Surge (80-60) in early January at Cincinnati State.
All home game are played on the Downtown Dayton Campus and the only arena in the nation named: Building 8.
