Sinclair Snaps Losing Streak with Win Over Wright State-Lake

Dayton, Ohio- Sinclair came home after a three game road trip to snap a three game losing streak by defeating Wright State University-Lake Lakers 85-77 and improves to 5-5 on the season. The Lakers fall to 4-3 on the season. Manny Powell (5-8/FR – Gahanna Lincoln H.S.) led the way for the Tartans as he put up 20 points for the game along with four rebounds and three assists.


The first half began with the Sinclair Tartans getting an early lead to go up 11-3 in about the first two minutes of the game. The Lakers responded with a 10-0 run to take the lead with 11 minutes left in the game. Steven Perriere (6’7” freshman forward from Villepinte, France) had a big block that woke up Sinclair from their slump and got them to take back the lead and extend it to eight at half. Sinclair was shooting 45.5 percent from the field to the Laker’s 36.8 percent. Wright State Lake was able to stay in the game by converting 6 of 16 shots from behind the arc. Manny Powell was a big boost off the bench in the first half as he had 10 points to lead the Tartans in scoring for the first half. Sinclair went into the locker room with the 44-35 lead.


The Lakers came out of the locker room on a mission to get back in the game. They went on a 13-2 run with 14:51 remaining in the game to take the lead from the Tartans with a score line of 49-48. Sinclair was able to respond quickly which a barrage of threes from Connor Myslowski (6-4/SO - West Carrollton HS)Manny Powell, and Marcellous Washington (6-1/FR – Lexington KY Bryan Station H.S.)to take the lead back at 57-55 with 10 minutes remaining in the game and never looked back. Sinclair shot 7 of 22 from beyond the arc which was the difference in the game at the end.  The Tartans out rebounded the Lakers 50-40, Wesley Parr (6-6/SO – Cleveland Benedictine H.S.) and Steven Perriere had 10 board apiece.


Notable performances include Michael Tillman (6-4/FR – Richmond IN HS) who had 17 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Wesley Parr had a double-double for the game with 16 points and 10 rebounds. For the Lakers, C.J. Taylor was the leading scorer for the game with 27 points. Taylor contributed six total rebounds as well.


Sinclair goes back on the road this weekend as they take on University of North Carolina’s Junior Varsity team in Chapel Hill on Dec. 7thand then Virginia Military Institute’s Club team on the 16th.
