Sears named NJCAA Division II Baseball 1st Team All-American

Dayton, Ohio – In another amazing year for the Sinclair baseball program, the honors keep pouring in.  Today the NJCAA announced the All-American teams and Sinclair placed a freshman on 1st Team – Mike Sears.

Ranked as high as 3rd for most of the season, the Tartan Pride finished 51-10 capturing it’s third OCCAC championship in a row.  This three peat is the programs 4th overall and the second one for Coach Dintaman.

Freshman Mike Sears (FR/INF – Walnut Hills H.S.) collected the most hardware this year as he was named the OCCAC Player and Freshman of the Year, named to the all-conference 1st team, 1st team all-region and collected 3 OCCAC Player of the Week honors.

Mike hammered out 19 home runs ranking him 3rd in the nation, while driving in 40 runs to lead all Division II.  He also collecting 77 total hits that placing him 10th overall in the national stats.  The 1st Team All-American drew major attention and increased the workload for opposing pitchers on every plate appearance as he received 49 walks ranking him 6th in the nation for free passes.
