(4)Sinclair baseball sweeps weekly honors

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – (4)Sinclair Baseball (21-5/7-1) swept the OCCAC weekly awards for March 25-31. Brandon DeWitt (Sinclair) earned Player of the Week and Jake Webb (Sinclair) joined his teammate with Pitcher of the Week honors, both were unanimous choices for the week.

DeWitt (FR/OF – Beavercreek H.S.) put together three straight multi-hit games during a 4-0 week for the Tartan Pride, going 6-for-7 (.857) with a double and two RBI. He drew three walks as well, posting a .900 on-base percentage and whopping 2.043 OPS for the week. In the one game out of the batting order, DeWitt earned a win on the mound by working two innings of shutout relief and striking out five of seven batters faced.

Webb (SO/RHP – Fairborn H.S.) hurled a six-inning complete game win in OCCAC action, lifting The Pride past Mercyhurst North East in a 12-2 victory. He surrendered four hits and a walk while allowing two unearned runs sprouted by defensive errors behind him. Webb eliminated 10 batters via the strikeout. He picked up this same award earlier this season on March 4.
The Sinclair season continues to grow in strength as the win streak stands at eight games with the last three wins coming in run rule fashion. This weekend the Pride will travel to Piqua for a four game OCCAC series with Edison State. Sinclair stands alone at the top of the OCCAC standings at 7-1 with Owens being the next closest team chasing the Pride at 3-1.
