April 10, 2017

Dayton, Ohio-The Sinclair baseball (25-5/8-0) remained perfect in conference play as they collected another 4 game series sweep, this time on the road at Edison State.

Game one was the closest game of the weekend series as Sinclair had to survive a late charge by Edison State.  Up 6-2 heading into the bottom of the 6th and in control, Edison State unloaded with four runs to tie the game at 6.

With two outs and two on in the top of the 7th, Nick Massey (SO/OF – Beavercreek H.S.) singled to left field scoring the go ahead run.   Coming in from the bullpen in the bottom of the 6th to close the Edison State rally, Jack Goonan (FR/RHP – Ayersville H.S.) was able to get two strike outs and a ground out for the win 7-6.

Game two of the Saturday doubleheader was all about the pitching, John Shutrump (SO/RHP – Mason H.S.) threw a complete game shutout as the Pride rolled over the Chargers 13-0.  This was the third complete game for Shutrump as he only allowed 5 hits in 7 innings, improving his record to 6-1 on the year.

Game three continued the trend of Sinclair jumping out early on Edison State as the Pride cruised to a 12-5 win.  Leading the way at the plate for the Pride, Blaze Glenn (FR/IF – Toronto H.S.), Trevor Hafner (FR/IF – Perrysburg H.S.) and Brandon Henson (FR/OF – Pickerington Central H.S.) all smashing home runs.

Game four of the weekend series as over after the third inning as Sinclair took a 13-0 lead into the bottom of the third.  Once again Sinclair jump out early scoring runs in each of the first two innings.  Up 5-0 going into the top of the third, Sinclair blasted the home team for 8 unanswered as Edison pitching staff had no answer for the Sinclair bats.  Sinclair added another run in the fourth and finished off the weekend four games series sweep with 5 runs in the fifth.  At the end of 5, Sinclair was up 19-1 and the game was called under the run rule.

This weekend, the Pride will travel to Lakeland for a 4 game OCCAC series scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
