Sinclair Athletic Department announces OCCAC All-Academic Team

Dayton, OH – Sinclair Community College is pleased to announce the following 27 student-athletes earning OCCAC All-Academic honors for 2015-16.

A total of 158 student-athletes earned All-Academic honors from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) from across 9 colleges. 

To qualify, a student/athlete must have completed 24 credit hours and earned a 3.30 or higher cumulative GPA.

Sinclair had a total of 85 student-athletes during the 2015-16 academic year participating in five NJCAA sports.  During the fall and spring semesters, the Pride had 26 & 23 student/athletes earned Dean’s List honors each semester.  Completing the year with above 3.3 cumulative GPA, 27 Sinclair student-athletes earned OCCAC All-Academic honors representing 31.8% of the total Sinclair athletes.

Special recognition goes out to freshman Sarah Eifert and Erica Oldiges of the volleyball team, as they earned a perfect 4.0 GPA for the 2015-16 academic year.

The OCCAC baseball programs landed the most student-athletes of any sport on the All-Academic team this year with 35 and Sinclair placed a total of 13 of those 35 (37.1%) to pace all OCCAC institutions.

Volleyball followed baseball with the 2nd most student-athletes earning honors with 34.  Sinclair also had the most honorees with a total of 7 student-athletes out of the 34 (20.6%) honored.

A total of 13 OCCAC student-athletes earned All-Academic honors in women’s basketball and Sinclair also paced the way with 4 honorees (30.8%).

Sinclair fields five OCCAC sports and the Pride placed the most student-athletes in 3 (60%) of those sports that include; baseball (13), volleyball (7) and women’s basketball (4).  Out of a total of 158 OCCAC student-athletes earning All-Academic honors for 2015-16 from 9 different institutions in 10 different sports, Sinclair was second only to Owens with a total of 27 individuals earning academic honors.
